The group was founded in 1997 by Laura Villegas, our senior member, as an initiative to give the Latin American youth a space for expression.

As the participants grew up Laura was able to hand over the power of managing the group to the young participants. Nowadays the group is completely run by young adults within a horizontal structure.

The history of New Generation is impossible to write. No one, but many stories should be put together to make sense of our common experience since its creation.

The history of New Generation is the history of many people, more than 2000 young members, souls that found in New Generation’s way of life an alternative to their routine to their lives and a place to build community.

Since it was found in 1997 it has firmly kept its principles and its commitment to empower the young people.
